Real Life

Jesus said that he came so that we could have abundant life. We’re not talking about just a getting-up and-going-through-the-motions kind of day, but a life where you move mountains for the glory of God. Whatever your job, whatever your income, whatever your(fill in the blank)…take all of them and get ready for a miracle. Take all of them and hand them over to Jesus.

First, we’ll look at a couple of people who did this and what happened in the wake of their choice to surrender EVERYTHING to Christ. Then, we’ll consider two action steps that will help us make the leap to God-size living, aka the real life!

Hezekiah was unique among all the kings of Judah. Why? He was totally surrendered to the Lord. The Bible says he “trusted in the Lord, God of Israel. He held fast to the Lord and did not cease to follow him.” What was the result of this man’s ultimate passion to obey God? “The Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.” (2 Kings 18:5-7) The apostle Paul was another individual who impacted an empire with the name of Jesus and whose writings still inspire countless lives today. Like Hezekiah, Paul gave it all to God. “God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son…” (Romans 1:9).

How does this work in 2012? Same way it did thousands of years ago, because God never changes. The first step in real life change is giving EVERYTHING to God. Surrender every part of your being to the One who made you. That’s easier said than done, but don’t lose sight of the fact that God is stronger than any addiction and His love runs deeper than any human heart. The second step to living the real life is to make your daily routine focused on eternity. Doing EVERYTHING for the glory of God will take you right into the middle of His will for your real life.
